Sunday September 15, 2024, on a foggy and cool morning, with temperature ideal for runners, the 3rd Annual The Great Lincoln Marathon & Half started at 8 am. On behalf of the greater Lincoln Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, thank you to the runners and their friends and family, who came from 16 states to Lincoln Maine. Thank you to the Town of Lincoln and our many sponsors: SW Collins, Gilman Electric, Treeline, Inc, RH Foster, Lincoln Smiles, Briarwood Motel, Thornton Brothers, Patricia Locke, Attorney, Rand Services, The Maine Land Store, Pelletier Ford of Lincoln, Steaks N’ Stuff, HC Haynes, Select Designs & Embroidery, 94.9 The Mountain and Why Not Stop. We are delighted the Lincoln commerce is starting to see the value of major planned events that Lifestyle Sport Global is developing to bring tourism to the region with The Great Loon Triathlon and The Great Lincoln Marathon & Half. With all this support, this year race was a real community event. Thank you to the Lincoln Police Department, Chris DeBeck from the Lincoln News and Ben Barr from WABI TV news.
A HUGE thank you to my wife Laura for all her operations and technology work. A SPECIAL thank you to Aaron at Select Design for helping us bring all the t-shirt merchandise together in a short time. A special THANK YOU to John Ford who assisted me all day on setting up and cleaning up the course. A special THANK YOU to our volunteers Brian Souers and Alan who set up all the water stations on the course. THANK YOU to Mike Clendenning at Barnes Brooks Golf Course for setting up a water station. Thank you to Alan Dill and his family for helping at the Knights of Columbus water station. Thank you to Possibilities Floral Studio and Desing Gift Shop for designing our awards that showcased Lincoln for our winners. Thank you to BNI and all their support, suggestions and contacts to help us plan the race. This year we redesigned the logo to best represent Lincoln with the creativity of Alex Henderson.
